in memoriam

Miles Daniel Fonda

Miles Fonda is remembered by his family and friends as an artist who brought a fresh lens to the ordinary. He was an encourager who saw the best in people. He was a mentor who brought out the potential in others.

Kochava is partnering with the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint to recognize Miles’ life as an artist and creator and to remember him as a valued member of the Kochava creative team. We invite you to join us as we support our Arts Access Scholarship Fund, which is designed to help children from our community participate in music lessons and music programming at subsidized or no cost to families. Music was an important part of Miles’ life and something he was passionate about passing on to his son. We are delighted to support the Arts Access Scholarship Fund as a fitting way to keep his passion for music education for children alive.

Tom Rodda Merit Scholarship

Tom was born in Michigan, in 1942. His family moved a lot and he graduated high school in Wyoming. Tom attended the University of Wyoming where he completed a degree in Accounting. In 1969, after an enlistment in the Air Force (where he reached the rank of Captain),  Tom settled in Pullman, Washington and was married 5 years later. He went on to attend Washington State University where he earned his MBA. Tom and his family moved to Alaska in 1978 and then retired to Hope, Idaho in 2005.

Tom was an avid runner, having completed two marathons. But, after his family, Tom’s true love was music. He was an accomplished pianist and church organist. Tom volunteered at the Sandpoint Music Conservatory and felt a special connection with the children’s groups which he accompanied. Tom had a huge heart and was a friend to all. He passed away March 1, 2019.

A scholarship in Tom’s name has been created for high achieving students attending MCS.

Arts Access Scholarship Fund

The establishment of this fund was made possible by of the generosity of Karen Cordry. Arts Access Scholarships are structured to ensure access to students who may otherwise not be able to afford tuition costs at MCS. These need based scholarships are intended to cover a portion of tuition expenses. Your support could make a life-changing difference for performing arts students at MCS.
