American pianist Roger McVey has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, Mexico, and New Zealand. He is Head of Keyboard Studies and Professor of Piano at the Lionel Hampton School of Music, University of Idaho, and holds degrees from the University of Kansas, Indiana University, and East Carolina University, with additional study at the Aspen Music Festival and Chautauqua Institute. A top prizewinner in the International Beethoven Competition (U.S.A.) and a semifinalist at the International Franz Liszt Competition in Poland, critics have praised his “passionate artistry and electrifying virtuosity.” Dr. McVey has released five solo recordings, appears on four collaborative CDs, is a founding member of Trio St. Croix, and is an active chamber musician and advocate for contemporary music, collaborating with many leading American composers. A Steinway & Sons Hall of Fame Teacher, he is a sought-after educator, adjudicator, and national presenter for major music organizations and conferences.
