Early Childhood classes go outdoors in the Summer! Summer Academy was so fun, we look forward to seeing you this fall.

 
 
 

our Little Mozart classes are part of the Music Matters! Symphony and are for our very youngest musicians. Classes integrate, among others, well known German educational concepts such as the German Carl Orff methodology and the Hungarian Kodaly methodology. Children explore and learn through movement and play.

Instrument Carousel Class

This class follows Little Mozarts within the Music Matters! Symphony framework and is recommended for Ages 4-7 years. Once children have completed the first 8 weeks of this course, they can go into an intensive class with their instrument of choice for another 8 week session.

Meet The Instructors

 

Elizabeth Knight

Elizabeth Knight is a classically trained pianist and music educator who grew up in the Sandpoint area. She began private piano lessons at age eight with local instructor Laurie Stevens, and later continued her studies under Mizue Fells at Northwest University. At Northwest University she earned her bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Music Industry with a focus on Music Production.

During her time at Northwest University, Elizabeth served as a teaching assistant in music theory and ear training—an experience that deepened her love for helping others grow in their musical skills. Overall, Elizabeth is passionate about creating a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel encouraged to grow, explore, and enjoy music.

Whether she’s teaching young beginners, assisting in music classes, or accompanying performances, Elizabeth brings enthusiasm, care, and a deep commitment to musical growth.

 

Gosia Szemelak-Pellant

Gosia Szemelak started taking music classes at the age of 9. Her first instrument was piano. At the age of 12 she started taking flute lessons and that became her main focus. During her musical education she participated in many competitions and masterclasses around the world. Gosia studied with many great flutists such as Peter Lukas Graf, Janos Balint, Łukasz Długosz, Wil Offermans.

Her main flute teachers include Cezary Traczewski in Karol Szymanowski Music High School in Wrocław and later Prof. Kazimierz Moszyński and Dr Wiesław Suruło at the Krzysztof Penderecki Music Academy in Kraków where she graduated with a Master's degree in flute performance.

Gosia is Head of Flute Department and teaches beginner piano and Early Childhood music classes at Music Conservatory of Sandpoint. She's also a principal flutist at North Idaho Philharmonia and an active performer.
