This dynamic Sandpoint concert highlights masterful artistry and dazzling virtuosity, with pianist Roger McVey performing works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Sergei Rachmaninoff, alongside brilliant showpieces by Earl Wild and Vladimir Horowitz. An internationally active soloist and collaborative artist, Dr. McVey is Head of Keyboard Studies at the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho and a prizewinning pianist.
The program culminates in Violin Concerto No. 1 by Sergei Prokofiev, performed by violinist Giselle Hillyer. A faculty member at the University of Idaho and co-concertmaster of the Washington-Idaho Symphony, Dr. Hillyer has appeared as soloist and orchestral musician across the United States and abroad. Together, these distinguished artist-educators bring depth, brilliance, and expressive power to an unforgettable afternoon of music.
