Discover new repertoire in beautiful Sandpoint, Idaho! Join us for the 6th annual MCS Summer Youth Orchestra Camp featuring guest conductor Dr. Philip Baldwin, director of the Spokane Youth Symphony. Bringing together regional and international musicians, this youth orchestra reaches across borders to create a unique experience.

Camp Overview

Under the direction of a guest conductor and MCS staff, students participate daily in full orchestra and chamber orchestra rehearsals. Students will also be involved in rhythm and technique practice. Instruction will include participation in master classes composed of smaller groups.There will be a performance at the Heartwood center w/ visiting international students, as well as an end of camp concert at the Panida Theater on August 10, 2018.

Schedule

 Music students ages 8-18 are invited to join us for five days of orchestra practice and performance! Camp begins August 6, from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.  Every day the students will begin with open orchestra in the mornings, followed by advanced orchestra in the afternoon. Students who are not in the advanced ensemble will participate in many other musical activities, like djembe drumming and arts & craft activities during the afternoon. We invite experienced youth musicians age 18-21 to mentor our campers.  If you are interested in being a mentor musician please contact the MCS office at 208.265.4444

MCS partners with Creations to bring fun afternoon crafting to enhance our Orchestra Camp.  Two afternoons during the week students will be engaged in craft activities!
