The Summer Academy
July 15 - August 2, 2019
July 15-26, 9 am to noon
Do your kids have a flair for the dramatic? Students will practice standing on stage and performing for an audience while having fun and collaborating with others who share their passion and creativity. An exciting new collaboration, beginning this year, will culminate with MCS and Shakespeare in the Park sharing a stage in a day of performances on July 27 at Memorial Field in Sandpoint.
Recommended ages 8+.
July 8-12, 9 am to noon
Teacher Recommendation Required (May 1st Registration Deadline)
If your child would like to play a duet, or participate in a piano ensemble this course is for them. Space is limited, so sign them up early for this versatile group-style keyboard class. Students will perform at a capstone piano concert. Recommended ages 9+.
July 22-26, 1 pm to 4 pm
Make musical friends, while improving your singing skills! Plus, explore a variety of musical styles, with harmonies. At the end of the week, all vocalists will perform in our community concert. Recommended ages 9+.
July 29-August 2, 9 am to 2:30 pm
Join us for our 7th annual MCS International Youth Orchestra Camp! This year features guest conductor, Dr. Roberta Bottelli, Conductor of the Spokane Youth Symphony. Bringing together regional and international student musicians from around the globe, this international youth orchestra reaches across borders. Daily practice, advanced ensembles, and master classes culminate in a finale public concert. Don’t miss out! Recommended ages 8+.
Half Day Orchestra
July 29-August 2, 9 am to noon
July 22-26, 1 pm to 3 pm
Learn the elements of tempo, beat, and rhythm. Students will practice precision timing, while working together to build a performance piece solely based on drumming. How fun is that? Recommended ages 8+.
